About

DSCN0648GMA award-winning, singer-songwriter, Christine Magee, has lived her life intrigued by music. Studying Royal Conservatory of Music lead her to obtaining a Bachelor of Music degree at UBC. Singing and touring Mexico, Ireland, U.S.A., Quebec, and B.C. with UBC’s University Singers and with Vancouver’s most prestigious vocal chamber ensemble, musica intima, spurned Christine on to creating original music and performing.

Serving as a worship leader at her former church has not only helped strengthen her skills in leadership, arranging, and improvisation, but also increased her desire to write music for the Lord.  In 2002, she began composing, drawing inspiration from artists like Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Ray Charles, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, and Evanesence. Other inspirations include Martin Sexton, John Mayer, Francesca Battistelli, and many more soul/jazz/blues artists. In April 2007, Christine released her first CD of original songs, entitled “OVERCOME”. It was produced and engineered at Soul Keepers Studio by well known, Canadian Christian recording artist, Michael Hart.

Christine offers an eclectic mix of musical styles from soul/jazz to bluesy gospel w/ a classical edge on her piano. The album’s theme comes from knowing that anything is possible when you have faith and trust in the Lord. In October 2007, Christine’s work was recognized by the Gospel Music Association of Canada with 3 Covenant Ward nominations. She was the winning recipient for the “Best Jazz/Blues Song of the Year”.   Christine has had the honour of holding the #1, #2, and #3 spots for ”Best soul song in Canada” on numberonemusicsite.com for numerous original songs.  In 2019, she was a semi-finalist for ”Best song of the year” in ‘The Worldwide Song of the Year Song-writing contest’ for her original song, ”Crimson robe”.  Christine has worked alongside artists such as Carolyn Arends, Debbie Fortnum, and Michael Hart. Her mission through music is to impact all people, believers and non-believers, to know and understand the depth of God’s love.

She continues to share the love through solo concerts, benefits, festivals, charitable events, and other venues, including the Wander Inn Cafe in South Delta. Currently, she continues to compose lyrics / music, plans to record, and operates a private music studio, offering piano, voice, and guitar to all ages. Christine continues to serve in the music ministry at her church and others.
